Quartz Crystals on Matrix - SWCC 027

Measurements:  83 x 53 x 30 mm

Description:  Clear quartz crystals, several double terminated and some with 'stepped' terminations (image bottom left), sit on a sandstone matrix. 

This specimen, which is multi-sided and has very little damage*, was part of an unusual pocket found by us in 2018. We cleaned it as best we could, but due to its complex growth, there are still quite a few bits of plant material trapped among the crystals. 

*There is one small crystal that sits loosely in the matrix, but appears to be trapped by surrounding crystals. On the 2nd image from the top, (left), it is about 13 mm from the edge of the specimen, in line with the thumb that supports the specimen in that image.
