Description: It
is
not often that you see fluorite IN quartz from Riemvasmaak. It seems
like the
fluorite was there first, and then the milky quartz grew over and among
the
fluorite crystals.
Like
many
of these fluorite specimens from Riemvasmaak, it has undergone a
complicated
cleaning technique with strong acid whereby unwanted coatings are
dissolved, to
expose the fluorite crystals better. During this process, some of the
matrix
around the green crystals have been affected (white areas).
The
fluorite crystal near the edge of the specimen has some damage, while
the other fluorite on top have
only minute nicks. The specimen displays well on a flat surface.
