Schorl Specimen (Variety Foitite) with Lovely Facets – NERS 013

Measurements:  62 x 58 x 52 mm

Description:  A group of shiny, jet-black schorl (variety foitite) crystals with lovely facets and multiple terminations. The specimen is partly covered with light cream to rusty coloured feldspar.

The only damage is to the bottom where it parted from its matrix.

                                        KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (schorl)  7.5
