Gemmy Aquamarine Crystal with Inclusions and Attachments – NERA 022

Description:  A lovely gemmy, blue coloured aquamarine crystal with feldspar inclusions and manganite and feldspar attached to the outside. 

There is limited damage where the feldspar is attached near the termination.

Weight of Specimen:  4.2 g

Chemical Composition:  Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈ (aquamarine)
                                       KAlSi₃O₈ (feldspar) 
                                       Mn³⁺O(OH) (manganite)

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (aquamarine) 7.5 - 8.0 
                                          (feldspar) 6 - 6.5
                                          (manganite) 4

Location:  Erongo Mountains, Erongo Region, Namibia.
