Aquamarine and Schorl on Feldspar Matrix – NERA 005

Measurements:  55 x 40 x 23 mm 

Description:  A few pale blue aquamarine crystals with schorl (variety foitite) inclusions, share a feldspar matrix with small schorl crystals (variety foitite). The feldspar matrix has a few facets. 

The aquamarine crystals have no notable damage.

                                       NaFe²⁺₃Al₆Si₆O₁₈(BO₃)₃(OH)₄  (schorl)    
                                       KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)  

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (aquamarine) 7.5 - 8.0
                                          (schorl)  7.5                                     
                                          (feldspar)  6 - 6.5
