Bi-coloured beryl crystal from a rare find

Measurements:  32 x 16 x 14 mm 

Description:  A bi-coloured beryl crystal from a rare find. 

The surfaces are mostly coated with a thin layer of feldspar. The upper part of the crystal is yellowish-green, while the lower part is blueish. 

The termination ridges have only small nicks, while there are contact marks to parts of the crystal.

Weight of Specimen:  14.6 g

Chemical Composition:  Be3Al2Si6O18  (beryl)
                                        KAlSi3O8 (feldspar) 


Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (beryl)  7½ - 8
                                           (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo Mountains, Erongo Region, Namibia.
