Bi-coloured beryl crystal from a rare find

Measurements:  43 x 11 x 10 mm 

Description:  Bi-coloured beryl crystal from a rare find. 

The surfaces are partly coated with a thin layer of feldspar. The upper part of the crystal is greenish-yellow, while the lower part is blueish. 

The crystal has only minute nicks.

Weight of Specimen:  9.4 g

Chemical Composition:  Be3Al2Si6O18  (beryl)
                                        KAlSi3O8 (feldspar) 


Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (beryl)  7½ - 8
                                           (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo Mountains, Erongo Region, Namibia.
