Demantoid Garnets and Feldspar – NER 049

Measurements:  35 x 20 x 13 mm 

Description:  A two-sided specimen consisting of a group of green andradite (variety demantoid) garnets with feldspar covering some sections of it. 

Some of the demantoid crystals have small nicks. 

Weight of Specimen:  11.2 g

Chemical Composition:  Ca₃Fe³₂⁺(SiO₄)₃  (garnets)
                                       KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)   

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (garnets)  6.5-7
                                          (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo, Namibia.
