Balls of Prehnite with Quartz Crystal, on Matrix – NBB 049

Balls of prehnite and quartz crystals on matrix

Measurements:  68 x 53 x 45 mm

Description:  A few balls of green bladed prehnite (about 26 x 26 mm) are clustered together around the base of a lovely clear quartz crystal, that have several minute red and blueish hematite specks inside. There are also several smaller and lesser quartz crystals, as well as a few calcite crystals, of which the largest measures about 14 mm across. These all share a matrix of basalt rock.

The prehnite appears to be undamaged, while the main quartz crystal has only a few extremely minute nicks to its termination, hardly visible to the naked eye. A few of the lesser crystals have some damage, mostly to the edges of the specimen.
