| The Western
Cape, with Cape Town as its capital city, is a scenic, mountainous province
with an equally beautiful coastline.
The sandstone mountains have a granite basin. Clear and milky quartz crystal pockets are found in numerous areas, with the Ceres, Worcester and Villiersdorp areas yielding the best specimens. Some of these specimens are double terminated, with clear and coloured phantoms and other inclusions. |

Vredendal is an exceptional mineral locality. It is a small agricultural town, some 300 km north of Cape Town. The Cape Lime Company dolomite quarry (pictured left) about 8 km outside Vredendal, has yielded some very interesting mineral specimens. |
|
Vredendal, Worcester and Ceres (the latter two both about 120 km from Cape Town) are beautiful areas. Nestled between the cape fold mountains, these areas deliver beautiful and unusual quartz specimens. Below we have a selection of crystals from these lesser known areas. |
