Feldspar Crystal with Quartz – SWCV 006

Measurements:  34 x 26 x 18 mm

Description:  A feldspar (adularia orthoclase) crystal surrounded by quartz crystals. The biggest crystal is broken, but the second biggest is perfect and measures 19 x 06 mm.

Chemical Composition:  SiO₂  (quartz)                                                                                KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)  

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (quartz)  7 
                                      (feldspar)  6 - 6.5        

Location:  Vredendal Quarry, Western Cape, South Africa.
