Quartz Crystal Group – SWCC 001

Beautiful, gemmy, clear quartz crystal group

Measurements:  55 x 13 x 10 mm

Description:  A beautiful, gemmy, clear quartz crystal with several extremely minute quartz crystals on its surface, which gives it a shimmery effect.

At the one end is a group of clear quartz crystals partly immersed in the main crystal. The termination at this end has lovely growth patterns.

Included in the main and some of the lesser crystals, are a few very minute balls of clinochlore. Follow this link for a microscopic image of one of these in a similar crystal, and more information. The minute indentations on the surface are where these balls used to be, and have since eroded, and stained by (?)goethite.

The main termination point has only a few extremely minute nicks, hardly visible with the naked eye.
