Hematite and Amethyst Quartz Crystal - SNCO 015

Hematite and amethyst quartz crystal- Orange River
Measurements:  31 x 17 x 15 mm  

Description:  The bizarre colours of this crystal were caused when a light amethyst quartz crystal received a coating of hematite and later another coating of clear to light amethyst with regrowth. 

There are a few very small crystals attached to the base of the specimen, similar to the main crystal. 

There are some nicks to the specimen.

Chemical Composition:  SiO2  

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  7
