Very Unusual Phantom Quartz Cluster SNCO 011

Very unique cluster of phantom quartz, on matrix - Orange River

Measurements:  120 x 80 x 50 mm

Description:  A rather unique cluster of  phantom quartz, on a matrix of feldspar. The matrix has been trimmed.

The phantom quartz crystals have the most bizarre, unique features: some are black, with bits of brick-red colour, whilst others have a brick-red colour with clear terminations.  A few have lost their outer coating through the years, and new crystals have started growing on the inner (now exposed) phantoms.

If you're a crystal quartz collector, you'll find this a most remarkable specimen!

There are quite a few nicks to the specimen.
