Smithsonite Specimen - NTS 030

Light pink smithsonite specimen

Measurements:  28 x 25 x 13 mm

A specimen consisting of small, well-formed, soft pink (not pale) smithsonite crystals. Some of the crystals have very minute yellowish-brown ball-shaped inclusions (visible under x30 magnification), and some have pitted surfaces, where these little balls (mineral unknown to us) previously sat on the surface and were partially embedded, but have since eroded away.

The bottom of the specimen has a prominent imprint where the specimen's matrix parted, leaving a thin ellow coating of (?)iron oxide. The edges of the specimen has quite a bit of damage, while the rest of the specimen has only a few minute nicks.
