Green Garnet Cluster - NER 062

Measurements:  23 x 19 x 17 mm

Description:  A small cluster of green garnets (up to 2 mm on edge) with bits of hard (?)feldspar clay. The specimen has some damage to the bottom.

Weight of Specimen:  11.3 g

Chemical Composition:  Ca₃Fe³₂⁺(SiO₄)₃  (andradite garnet)  
                                    KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar) 

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (andradite garnet)  6.5-7 
                                      (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo Mountains, Erongo Region, Namibia.
