mm Description: A beryl crystal with the bottom part having a slightly greenish aquamarine colour, while the top section is more an emerald green colour. The side facets of the crystal is coated with a thin layer of, what appears to be, feldspar. A strange feature of most of these crystals is the concave shape spread across about two of the facets. This specimen has two concave sides. These sides were probably formed by the specimen growing over / around feldspar crystals. One of the concave sides is very prominent, and there is a (?)feldspar crystal attached. The photographs on the right show the specimen with the sunlight directly behind it, seen from the two different ends. The edges of the termination has a few small nicks, whereas the bottom has (partly healed) damage (see photograph on left, 2nd from top). According to experienced diggers at the mining area, they have never seen anything like this before. This specimen comes from a very rare find!Weight of Specimen: 44.8 gChemical Composition: Be3Al2Si6O18 (aquamarine) KAlSi3O8 Hardness
