Measurements: 172 x 86 x 72 mm Description: The single amethyst (with a bit of smoky) Brandberg crystal weighs approximately 1.45 kg. Two of the sides are dull, but the rest is very gemmy, with beautiful colouring ranging from amethyst to smoky. It has lots of gas inclusions and several rainbows. We can see two bubbles - one is about 3 mm in diameter, but hardly moves (only "wiggles" a bit when tilted). The other is very minute, but moves a few millimeters. The crystal seems to have been attached to its mother rock at an angle of about 45 degrees. There is some damage where it parted from its matrix, but the termination has only a few, very minute, nicks. A very exceptional specimen of good quality and size, with a high lustre! Brandberg crystal specimens of this size and quality are very hard to come by. This is one of those crystals that photographs just cannot do justice to ..... Chemical Composition: SiO2 Hardness on Mohs Scale: 7 Location: Brandberg, Namibia. Specimen Code: NBB 077 US $ 3 800
